IFoA Conference 2023 Plenary 4: The role of actuaries in the financial services revolution

Over the last few months there has been a whole swathe of initiatives introduced in the UK financial services sector. You could be forgiven for not keeping on top of every single new proposal. Most notable are the Edinburgh Reforms. They represent the most significant and extensive package of regulatory change since the UK left the EU, covering a broad range of financial services regulations. This plenary session will take stock of what’s been announced so far and how these reforms are being viewed by the sector. The session will also remind attendees of the rationale behind this wave of measures and a panel of experts from across the industry will walk us through them. In addition to the Edinburgh Reforms, the experts will cover the Financial Services and Markets Bill, Future Regulatory Framework, and the so-called ‘Green Day’ measures. They will unpack what the measures mean for actuaries in this financial services revolution.

Speakers: Helen White, CityUK; Ben Westerman, The Aldersgate Group; John Rowland, H/Advisors Cicero
