Content will be aimed at all actuaries looking to understand the issues surrounding mental health in insurance and in particular those looking to ensure products and processes widen access for, and are most useful to, those experiencing periods of poor mental health. The national conversation around mental health is working to destigmatise talking about mental health conditions. We consider what the issues are for actuaries faced with in ensuring access for those with a history of poor mental health to insurance, how we make our processes easy to navigate for those with mental health conditions and avoid causing further distress and what product development ideas may be opened up by the increased amount of data in this space. This session will include an introduction from the IFoA mental health working party outlining the work they are doing in this area and what to expect from them over the coming year.
